Step One Figuring out what to do for my product. Obstacles: Several things product topics would have been relevant to my junior paper. Success: People did not mind me asking for their input. |
Step Two
Asking people for ideas
Obstacles: This was something I was not completely comfortable with.
Success: I heard an idea I liked and decided to interview someone that trained or used a service animal.
Step Three
Doing more research on the affects of domestic animals on human health
Obstacles: There were too many websites dealing with this topic.
Success: Narrowed my decision down to three sites which made it much easier to choose.
Step Four
Form a chart of the data I found
Obstacle: The site I chose had different data sets to choose from. I chose the set most relevant to my paper and project.
Success: The information went perfectly with my paper and project!
Step Five
Begin setting up my yola website
Obstacles: Learning to use the site and its different widgets.
Success: After I got the hang of it, setting up my yola site was pretty easy.
Step Six
Find a mentor!
Obstacle: Not a lot of people know someone who trains or uses a service animal. This made me step out of my comfort zone and ask around.
Success: My teacher referred me to someone who was familiar with my topic and could help me find a mentor.
Step Seven
Prepare questions for the interview
Obstacles: It was difficult coming up with a list of questions that would not be overwhelming.
Success: I got my questions down and was ready for the interview!
Step Eight
Call mentor to set up interview
Obstacles: I was a little shy asking someone I had never met before if I could interview them.
Success: My mentor, Jerremy, was available the same day I called him.
Step Nine
Meet for the interview!
Obstacles: Where Jerremy lived and the time we planned the interview, conflicted with my school schedule.
Success: I was able to have a very successful interview with an awesome warrior and his service dog Paige.
Step Ten
Organize all the information I gathered via research and interview and preparing for presentation
Obstacles: Finding a way to represent the information I researched properly
Success: Posting a link to the chart I made and the website I got the information for the chart from
